South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea International Broadcasting Foundation launched the 2026 Senses of K-Culture initiative to present regional culture to overseas audiences through firsthand experience.
About 120 foreign content creators living in Korea were expected to take part in six programs from April through November. Each three-day, two-night session was designed for 20 participants and organized around the themes of flavor, style and relaxation.
The first trip began in Jeonju on April 17. Participants made bibimbap, visited Gyeonggijeon Shrine and walked through Jeonju Hanok Village before producing social-media content from their experiences.
The program also planned two special 30-minute Arirang TV entertainment broadcasts for the second half of the year. A production team from Thai public broadcaster MCOT joined the cultural activities, while organizers discussed further cooperation with overseas broadcasters.
The initiative's wider aim was to show audiences that Korean culture extends beyond its most visible music and television exports. By placing foreign residents in regional settings, organizers hoped to present food, architecture, daily life and local heritage through individual points of view.
