The final program will look back on 365 guests and 2,131 tables from across South Korea, emphasizing the cultural value found in everyday regional meals.
TV CHOSUN announced on June 17 that the first season of Gourmet Huh Young-man's Table Journey would conclude. The production team said the program, which has spent seven years documenting modest but meaningful local food traditions, would pause because of Huh's health.
With the cartoonist approaching his 80th birthday, the team decided that his recovery should come first. A special broadcast was prepared to give viewers a fuller farewell and revisit the people, places and meals that shaped the series.
The retrospective, titled The Meals We Loved: Seven Delicious Years, was scheduled for June 21 at 7:50 p.m. It brings together memorable appearances by the program's 365 guests and reflects on the 2,131 meals introduced during the run.
Huh, 79, began his career in 1974 with the comic In Search of a Home. His long list of influential works includes Fly, Superboard, Gourmet, Bridal Mask, Tazza, Asphalt Man, Mister Q and Beat.
Huh said on June 17 that a health issue had arisen and that, following medical advice, he would concentrate on treatment and recovery. He planned to suspend outside activities and rest for the time being.
