YB's decision to make a metal record represents a major change in direction and a return to an ambition the band had set aside. Bassist Park Tae-hee thanked Yoon Do-hyun for proposing that they finally make the music they had dreamed about together.
The six-track album Odyssey, led by the title song Orchid, uses a heavier sound and a connected narrative. Its central character moves through internal conflict and outside pressure before finding a path from confusion toward freedom.
The band invited younger metal musicians into the production process. Yoon said the collaboration helped YB reach the result it wanted, while Park described the chance to experience the younger artists' music from inside the studio as especially rewarding.
Pre-release track Rebellion features Xdinary Heroes. The collaboration is presented as an example of exchange and mentorship between generations and as one possible direction for a more connected Korean band scene.
Senior musicians also offered support. Lim Jae-beom praised Yoon's persistence, Kim Jong-seo expressed pride in YB's long career, and Kim Soo-chul encouraged the group after attending a listening session.
Odyssey presents both YB's continuing musical drive and its willingness to work across generations rather than treat experience as a reason to stand apart.
